Nash Edgerton

Director / Exec Producer
Nash Edgerton is a true multi-hyphenate. After getting his break at 18 years old as a stunt performer, he has gone on to establish himself as an actor, stunt performer, producer, writer and director of indisputable talent. Loaded (1996) marked both Edgerton’s short film directorial debut and the beginnings of the film collective Blue-Tongue Films, formed with his brother Joel and friends Tony Lynch and Kieran Darcy-Smith. Their next collaboration, Deadline, took out the top prize at Tropfest and went straight to the Sundance Film Festival. Edgerton has since directed nine multi-award winning short films including Lucky, Spider and Bear (which premiered in competition at the Cannes International Film Festival), that have wowed audiences and entered cult status worldwide, amassing more than 65 awards among them. With well over 180 film and television credits on productions including the Matrix trilogy, Star Wars II and III, The Thin Red Line, The Great Gatsby, The Gift and Zero Dark Thirty, Edgerton has continued to challenge himself with a variety of eclectic projects both in front of and behind the camera. An accomplished editor, Edgerton edited the highly acclaimed cult mockumentary The Magician, written and directed by Scott Ryan, which was nominated for a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award and an Inside Film (IF) Award in 2005. He also served as producer along with Michele Bennett. In music videos, Edgerton’s unique style has garnered him various awards and nominations at the ARIAS and MTV Awards, for internationally renowned artists including music legend Bob Dylan, Eskimo Joe, Ben Lee, Missy Higgins, Hilltop Hoods and Empire of the Sun. The Square, Edgerton’s first feature film as director, received seven Australian Film Institute award nominations, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, and was one of 12 international films selected for Official Competition for the inaugural Sydney Film Prize at the 2008 Sydney Film Festival. The Square was released in Australia and internationally to wide acclaim from highly regarded critics. With a career spanning several decades, Edgerton’s most recent work has seen him directing and producing more and more. He helmed the US feature Gringo for Amazon Studios, starring Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron, David Oyelowo, Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried and Sharlto Copley, before moving into the half hour space with his television directorial debut Mr Inbetween, a co-production between Blue-Tongue Films and Jungle Entertainment for FX, produced by Michele Bennett. Edgerton directed all six episodes and is executive producing along with the show’s writer and star Scott Ryan and Jungle’s Jason Burrows. Next up Edgerton is executive producer and stunt coordinator his brother Joel’s new film Boy Erased, starring Academy Award nominee Lucas Hedges and Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, followed by producing Mirrah Foulkes’ directorial debut, Judy and Punch, alongside Michele Bennett and Vice Media’s Danny Gabai which is currently in post production.
